Green Oaks Biological Field Station

Eco Space Supports Year-Round Research & Recreation

Knox College’s new Green Oaks Biological Field Station, located at Knight Living & Learning Center, is a residential and educational oasis nestled in a copse of trees and adjacent to reclaimed prairie land.

The facility includes classrooms and sleeping spaces for 16 students, central study and living spaces, a small director’s suite, a large kitchen, modern bathrooms, and laundry facilities. The residential area is connected to the academic space with a four-season porch that provides additional flexible space for everything from gear storage to study groups and recreation.

Designed to meet Phius standards, Farr Associates led all aspects of design, including site work, building systems, furniture selection, and solar panel readiness.
