TOLEDO CIVIC CENTER MALL CHARRETTE

U.S. EPA retained Farr Associates to lead a three-day charrette to develop a sustainable redevelopment vision for Toledo’s Civic Center Mall based on new GSA building projects coming to the site in the future.

The 29-acre site, located just north of Downtown Toledo, is home to multiple civic buildings belonging to the City of Toledo, Lucas County, and the federal government, as well as several civic memorials scattered throughout the site. With the planned new annex of the Federal Courthouse by the GSA, Mall stakeholders sought to update the vision plan for the site.

The Farr Associates-led charrette explored several design options for green infrastructure, site circulation, public art and programming. It included a walking site tour, meetings with Mall stakeholders, design workshop sessions, and a public meeting.
