February 22-23rd: Ramsey3, Minneapolis MN

February 20th, 3PM: The Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards

The 13th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards, sponsored by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. The winner of The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design will be annouced at the CNDA.

February 13-14th: Cincinnati OH

Doug Farr will be travelling to Cincinnati to meet with Roxanne Qualls (former Mayor of Cincinnati) and her group from Northern Kentucky University. There he will conduct various lectures and workshops on LEED-ND, meet with planning staff for the NKU campus and discuss current issues with the NKU Urban Design studio. February 8-10th: New Partners for Smart Growth Conference, Los Angeles

Doug Farr will be attending this annual conference sponsored by the Local Government Commission as a panel member on the evening of February 8th. The evening plenary is entitled, "The Next Chapter for Smart Growth: Capacity Building to Institutionalization" and features Judy Corbett, Executive Director of the Local Government Commissionand Harriet Tregoning, Executive Director of the Smart Growth Leadership Institute as moderators.

December 7th, 4-7PM: "AACE: Trading Greenbacks for Green, the Real Cost of LEED"

Jonathan Boyer, Principal at Farr Associates will be speaking on the cost efficiency of LEED-rated projects at this panel discussion moderated by John Katrakis. It will be at the Center for Neighborhood Technology, one of Farr Associates' Leed Platinum buildings of which Jonathan was the primary architect. $20.

November 16th: Mayor Daley's Greenworks Awards

Farr Associates nominated its projects Bethel Commercial Center and the Unity Center for the 2006 GreenWorks Awards in the category of Green Buildings. Mayor Richard M. Daley and Sadhu Johnson, The Commissioner of the Environment for the City of Chicago will host this awards ceremony where they will announce the winners.

November 9th: Green Architecture Tour with Rail~Volution

October 18th, 11:15AM-12:15PM: 1st Annual Governor's Conference on Affordable Housing
The Illinois Housing Development Authority hosts this first-ever 2-day conference on October 17th & 18th at the Chicago History Museum. Doug Farr will participate in a "Special Session" panel moderated by the Commissioner of the Environment, Sadhu Johnston, entitled "Cutting Edge Design - Accessibility, Green Design and Energy Efficient Technologies." Doug will focus on energy reduction in green buildings, particularly Farr Associates' work with on multifamily housing with the Interfaith Housing Development Corporation and in Riverdale, IL on the Pacesetter/Whistler Crossing mixed-use project.

Sponsored by Practice Management and Environment KC, this event will feature Jonathan Boyer, Director of Architecture for Farr Associates discussing how designing a LEED accredited green building affects project management practices. At this year's conference, the Urban Design studio at Farr Associates will be honored with the 2006 Michigan Association of Planning's Outstanding Planning Project Award for a Project/ Program/ Tool for their Grand Valley Form-Based Code Study.

October 5th: American Association of Planning's Upper-Midwest Four State Conference
Leslie Oberholtzer, Director of Planning and Christina Anderson, Urban Planner will present at this conference which invites APA members from Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. leslie will be discussing form-based codes, and Christina, Chapter Vice President for the CNU, will give an overview of new urbanism.
