USGBC announced this week that the Shaw Technology & Learning Center– the adaptive reuse of the former Sears and Roebuck Co. powerhouse as a sustainable charter high school, achieved Platinum certification. STLC is Farr Associates' fifth project to earn LEED Platinum certification.

June 18, 2010 - HUD Secretary Donovan announces precedent-setting LEED-ND policy
In his May 21st plenary address at CNU 18, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced that HUD will now use LEED-ND and Location Efficiency criteria to score its grant applications. This change will increase access to walkable neighborhoods and improve transportation options for communities, involving grant money of up to $3.25 billion. http://www.cnu.org/node/3555
